Total Commander

Total Commander is an extremely popular successor of the famous Norton Commander – the application for managing files and structure of folders on hard disks. Total Commander is very similar in many cases to its predecessor – so basically, the keys from F1 to F10 are bound to the most standard operations on files and catalogues, such as, for example, copying, pasting, changing names, creating and deleting, and so on. This application allows also for edition of text files and some others, as well as for connection with FTP servers (it also supports the newest protocol FXP), and finally – adding files to archives and extracting them to the chosen location (TC supports several archive formats).

We can also install a plug-in which will enable us to use Total Commander to run a program for burning CDs and DVDs. This is a payable application, but the test version is fully functional and operative, and is not limited in time. Total Commander is a great alternative for the built-in files manager default for Windows operating systems. This application should be recommended to all those for whom Windows explorer is not enough or who got used to the environment in Norton Commander. On the other hand, many users who do not know this application, should most definitely try it out since it offers many useful functions and handles operations much faster than the Windows manager. Total Commander is constantly developed, and each update presents new impressive functions. One of the recently added elements is, for example, the system of tabs, as well as advanced options for files search engine. Of course, Total Commander can be adjusted to our individual needs and expectations. For example, from this application we can open various files formats in the appropriate programs, depending on their extensions. This application is really worth trying out.
