LogMeIn Hamachi

LogMeIn Hamachi is an application for, to put it simply, setting up a direct connection between two or more computers. It is available for free, but there is also a paid version, which, of course, offers much more functional options than the free version. LogMeIn Hamachi does not require the configuration with the Virtual Private Network (VPN), and this is the first – and so far, the only such a program, which enables us to directly connect two or more independent computers in situation when they are all outside the Network Address Translation (NAT). The very connection in this case is supported by a server, but later on, the connection is maintained by the application. So far, this application works with Microsoft Windows NT systems, as well as Linux and Mac OS.

The free version of LogMeIn Hamachi allows for up to fifteen people to be connected simultaneously. Also, we can have up to sixty four LogMeIn Hamachi networks in the free version, and two hundred fifty six in the paid version; however, they cannot be joined into bigger networks. The server will assign each of the participants their own IP addresses.
When we want to create a LogMeIn Hamachi network, we need to remember that we have to name it, because in order to connect with it, the other participants need to give the name of the network they want to access. Also, the user who sets the network needs to be constantly connected with it, although they can be inactive, because otherwise the network will fail and other participants will not be able to connect with each other. There is also a possibility to set a password on the network, so that no unauthorized computers will be able to interrupt. Each of the computers in the network has its own unique name, so the participants can overview the connection.
