IrfanView

IrfanView is a multimedia browser meant for Windows operating system and it is used for browsing and simple edition of many file formats, mainly graphic files. This application was designed by a Bosnian programmer, Irfan Skilijan, thirteen years ago, and has been constantly developed and updated by him for all those years. Thanks to that, there are many versions of this browser, available on the Internet. This application recognizes and opens several dozen various graphic, sounds and video formats. It is distinguished from among many other programs of this kind by high speed of operation and great functionality.

This application offers simple tools for the basic edition of files, for example images. We can rotate, magnify or retouch them, as well as do many other things. IrfanView cooperates also with external plug-ins and runs the TWAIN interface, thanks to which we can browse photos even directly from a digital camera, a scanner or any other optical device plugged into the computer. Another interesting option offered by IrfanView is the active thumbnail view, which allows us to quickly skim through the contents of the folders, and to convert files to other formats, if necessary. The latest versions of IrfanView are equipped even with tools that allow for creating simple HTML photo albums, thanks to which we can easily publish our photos on the Internet.

Moreover, it offers add-ons for creating multimedia presentations, which can be later saved in the executable format EXE. This function is rarely seen in the case of many other multimedia browsers. What is more, the presentation created by us can be also set as the screen saver, or simply recorded on a portable disc. This multimedia browser is considered one of the best applications of this kind.
