eMule

eMule is a Polish response to the well-known and commonly used eDonkey, which is reflected even in the very name of this application. This software is completely free – free of payment, advertisements or spyware. Still, eMule is a powerful tool, which combines all the positive functions expected of this kind of software, and at the same time limits to the absolute minimum all the negative, unnecessary elements. The main function of this application is the data exchange via the P2P network. eMule integrates with several such networks, including EK2K, Source Exchange, and Kad. This application also offers the solution, used in one of the other programs of this type – namely, crediting the users who share their data.

Thanks to that, the users feel more motivated, and consequently they will share their files more willingly – eventually, the result is a wide range of files shared by the users. This application allows for searching and downloading many types of files, and does not introduce any limitations as to the size of the files. There are a few tools that are worth paying attention to. One of them automatically checks the files that are being downloaded for any errors, and the module Intelligent Control Corruption allows for repairing the damaged parts. This saves our time that we would otherwise have to spend on searching the Internet once again for the correct files. The built-in priorities system and the possibility to simultaneously download more than just one part of the file both accelerate the download process.

Another tool is meant for preview of the partly downloaded files, so that we can check the quality and the authenticity of the file. Additionally, this application allows for organizing the files into thematic groups and subgroups, which facilitates our access to the data. eMule offers also a developed system for communication between users. Here, we can send PMs (private messages) to other users or gather the contacts and organize them into groups. Finally, eMule presents the users with the possibility to communicate with other users of this program around the world, since it uses the built-in IRC client.
