Ares

Ares allows for file exchange in the P2P network. It is one of the most extensively developed software of this kind, which offers numerous useful functions. It allows communication with such networks as FastTrack, Torrent, eDonkey2000, or Gnutella. Thanks to that integration, we do not have to look for, download and install a new program each time we want to cooperate with a different network. Additionally, thanks to all that, searching for interesting files becomes much more pleasurable and effective, and the results of our searches are displayed all in one window, and not in many different applications.

Ares allows for downloading various kinds of files, especially music, movies and videos, or executable files, such as computer programs or games. The results are sorted by the application according to the categories chosen by the user, which allows us to quickly find the files we are interested in. The downloading mechanism makes it possible to download separate parts of the files from many different sources, which speeds up the whole process. Thanks to the module for playing audio and video files, Ares allows us to play the files even during the download process, so we can check the quality and authenticity of the files. Apart from the possibility to integrate with many P2P networks, we should praise also the clear and intuitive interface of this application. Also, there are some additional options which allow us to configure the application and to personalize its layout when it comes to distribution of the elements of the interface on the screen. For those who do not know the language, an additional advantage will be the language option. Most of the non-English versions are well translated and there should not be any problems with omissions in translation or mistakes, which is common in the case of many other programs.

Ares offers also the possibility to chat with other users of this program. Thanks to that, we can exchange opinions and information or simply stay in contact with people from whom we downloaded some files or for whom we are seeding our resources. Finally, this is a tiny application, below 2MB, which, when installed, uses very little of the system resources. There is also the version Lite available, which has most of its more advanced tools removed.
